Composing Women in Action
On April 20, the Louisville Orchestra’s Festival of American Music will present their Music Without Borders concert. With the exception of Noah Sorota’s The Bluegrass, which opens the program, all the music was composed by women.
The evening features pieces by Jessie Montgomery, Julia Wolfe (featured in our Composing Women series), TJ Cole, Rene Orth, Rachel Grimes, Joan Tower (another Composing Women profile), and Anne Clyne.
Conductor Teddy Abrams introduces us to the program and explains why he feels it's important over at NewMusicBox. This is a really exciting concert, and we can’t tell you how happy we are that a major orchestra has embraced this challenge. If you’re in the Louisville area this April, you should go see them and let us know what you think! Tickets are only $20.
